  • Background
PRSS8(protease, serine, 8) displays trypsin-like enzymatic activities by hydrolyzing peptidyl fluorogenic substrates such as D-Pro-Phe-Arg-AMC. This trypsinlike enzymatic activity can be inhibited by aprotinin, antipain, leupeptin, and benzamidine(PMID:11274175). It is a heterodimer of two chains, light and heavy, which are held by a disulfide bond. PRSS8 is also named as CAP1 and belongs to the peptidase S1 family.
