Background
Fumarate hydratase, or fumarase, is an enzymatic component of the tricarboxylic acid cycle, catalyzing the conversion of fumarate to malate. It belongs to the class-II fumarase/aspartase family. This protein has 2 isoforms produced by alternative initiation.
