  • Background
The DNA cytosine deaminase APOBEC3B was identified recently as a source of DNA damage and mutagenesis in breast, head/neck, cervix, bladder, lung, ovary, and to lesser extents additional cancer types. This enzyme is also an effector protein in the innate immune response to virus infection. APOBEC3B has 3 isoforms produced by alternative splicing with the MW of 46, 29, 43 kDa. It can also exsit as a dimer and can interact with APOBEC3G.
