Carbenicillin is more stable than Ampicillin, and is generally preferable.

- Prepare 0.8 L of distilled water in a suitable container.
- Add 50 g of Carbenicillin disodium to the solution.
- Add distilled water until the volume is 1 L.
- Filter-sterilize using a 0.22-μm filter. Store in 1-mL aliquots at −20°C. Working Conc. = 50-100 µg/mL. Carbenicillin can be used in place of Ampicillin at the same working concentration.
