  • Description
The RecA-Like Protein (193 - 212) peptide is a 20-amino acid peptide that has been the focus of significant research efforts. It corresponds to a specific region within the Escherichia coli RecA protein. This peptide plays a crucial role in DNA-related processes. It has been demonstrated to possess the ability to bind to both single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) and double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) in the presence of certain ions, such as Mg²⁺. The binding is not only specific but also exhibits cooperative behavior, suggesting that the peptide molecules interact with each other on the DNA substrate. One of its remarkable functions is the induction of conformational changes in the bound DNA. Similar to the full-length RecA protein, it can cause the unstacking of ssDNA, which is believed to be essential for facilitating the interactions between ssDNA and dsDNA, a key step in homologous recombination.
  • Storage Guidelines
Normally, this peptide will be delivered in lyophilized form and should be stored in a freezer at or below -20 °C. For more details, please refer to the manual: Handling and Storage of Synthetic Peptides

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
