Background
PGP(phosphoglycolate phosphatase) belongs to the HAD-like hydrolase superfamily. It is an essential intermediate in the biosynthetic pathway of cardiolipin and a mitochondrial-specific phospholipid regulating the membrane integrity and activities of the organelle. PGP catalyzes formation of phosphatidylglycerol from phosphatidylglycerophosphate.
