Background
BAIAP2L1, also known as IRTKS, is a 511-amino acid protein containing an IRSp53/MIM homology domain (IMD) that bundles actin filaments and interacts with the small GTPase Rac (PMID: 17430976; 14752106). In addition to the IMD domain, BAIAP2L1 also contains an SH3 domain and WW domain interaction motif. BAIAP2L1 is widely distributed and is an insulin receptor substrate. It has a role in actin remodeling and membrane protrusion.
