Description
The 7B2 C-terminal peptide (5-13) is a neuropeptide derived from the neuroendocrine protein 7B2 precursor. Its amino acid sequence is FSEEEKEPE, corresponding to residues 202-210 of the precursor protein. This peptide is generated through proteolytic cleavage at specific sites, with a dibasic cleavage motif (KK) preceding its N-terminus. In a study examining neuropeptide perturbations in the neonatal rat striatum following exposure to the neurotoxin BMAA, the relative level of this peptide was found to be significantly altered. Statistical analysis indicated a significant interaction effect between sex and treatment, with a notable reduction in the peptide's level observed in specific experimental groups, particularly in female subjects treated with BMAA compared to controls.

About TFA salt
Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.
Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.
Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.
In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
