SOC is often used during the transformation of E. coli competent cells with plasmids (added in transformed cells after heat shock/electroporation). SOC = SOB+Glucose

- Prepare 0.8 L of H2O in a suitable container.
- Add 20 g of tryptone to the solution.
- Add 5 g of yeast extract to the solution.
- Add 0.5 g of Sodium chloride to the solution.
- Add 0.186 g of Potassium Chloride to the solution.
- Adjust pH with NaOH solution to 7.0
- Add H2O until the volume is 1 L.
- After autoclaving add 20ml filtered 1M Glucose(cas: 50-99-7) and 5ml autoclaved 2M Magnesium chloride.
