To prepare L Ampicillin Stock Solution
Table 1. Recipe
Name | Amount | Concentration | Formula/M.W. | CAS # |
---|---|---|---|---|
Ampicillin Na | 100 g | 100 mg/mL | C16H18N3NaO4S/371.39 | 69-52-3 |
- Prepare 0.8 L of distilled water in a suitable container.
- Add 100 g of Ampicillin Na to the solution.
- Add distilled water until the volume is 1 L.
- If sterilization is required, prewash a 0.45- or 0.22-μm sterile filter by drawing through 50-100 mL of H2O. Then pass the ampicillin solution through the washed filter. Store the ampicillin in aliquots at -20°C for 1 yr (or at 4°C for 3 mo). In general, use carbenicillin for ampicillin selection, because it is more chemically stable. Working Conc. = 50-100 µg/mL
