  • Background
TSPAN10 is a membrane protein of the tetraspanin superfamily, which are characterized by the presence of four conserved transmembrane regions. Tetraspanins have been involved in diverse processes such as cell activation and proliferation, adhesion and motility, differentiation, and cancer. TSPAN10 belongs to the TSPANC8 subfamily, which also include TSPAN5, TSPAN14, TSPAN15, TSPAN17, and TSPAN33. It has been reported that TSPANC8 tetraspanins interact with ADAM10 and have a conserved function in the regulation of ADAM10 trafficking and activity, thereby positively regulating Notch receptor activation (PMID: 23091066; 23035126).
