  • Description

Salusin-beta is a 20-amino acid endogenous peptide with the sequence H-Ala-Ile-Phe-Ile-Phe-Ile-Arg-Trp-Leu-Leu-Lys-Leu-Gly-His-His-Gly-Arg-Ala-Pro-Pro-OH. It has been detected in various mammalian tissues and body fluids. Studies have demonstrated that salusin-beta exhibits potent antibacterial activity specifically against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus. The proposed mechanism of action involves the depolarization of the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane, leading to the leakage of cellular contents. Structure-activity relationship analyses indicate that the N-terminal region of the peptide is crucial for its antimicrobial function. Circular dichroism spectroscopy suggests that salusin-beta can adopt an alpha-helical conformation in solution.

  • Storage Guidelines

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
