  • Description

Peram-CAH-II is an octapeptide neurohormone belonging to the AKH/RPCH family, originally identified in the cockroach Periplaneta americana. Its primary structure is pGlu-Leu-Thr-Phe-Thr-Pro-Asn-Trp-NH2, characterized by blocked N- and C-termini. This peptide was also isolated as a second adipokinetic hormone from the corpora cardiaca of the firebug Pyrrhocoris apterus, where it is designated Pya-AKH-II.

The peptide differs from the previously identified adipokinetic hormone in this species (Pya-AKH-I) by a single amino acid substitution at position 3. In P. apterus, it is involved in the mobilization of lipids, but exhibits no activity in carbohydrate mobilization. Its structural homology to cardioacceleratory peptides in other insect species suggests a broader functional role within arthropod neuroendocrine systems.

  • Storage Guidelines

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
