Description
The peptide RPGLLDLK is a synthetic fragment corresponding to residues 43-50 of the octadecaneuropeptide (ODN), which is itself a brain-derived processing product of diazepam-binding inhibitor (DBI). This octapeptide, along with the closely related fragment DRPGLLDLK (DBI 42-50), represents the C-terminal sequence of ODN. Studies involving intrahippocampal injection in rats have demonstrated that RPGLLDLK can induce electroencephalographic alterations characterized by patterns of limbic seizures, including high-frequency activity and synchronized spike-wave discharges. The epileptogenic activity of this peptide fragment is notably antagonized by PK 11195, a selective ligand for a peripheral-type benzodiazepine recognition site linked to the GABAA receptor complex, but is unaffected by antagonists of central benzodiazepine or NMDA-type glutamate receptors.

About TFA salt
Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.
Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.
Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.
In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
