  • Description

LQEQ-19 is a 19-amino acid peptide derived from the C-terminal region of the VGF precursor protein in mice and rats. This peptide is a proteolytic product generated by prohormone convertases and is expressed in neuronal and neuroendocrine cells. In vitro studies using a motor neuron-derived cell line have demonstrated that LQEQ-19 attenuates neuronal cell death induced by cellular stress.

The biological activity of LQEQ-19 is associated with the activation of specific intracellular signaling pathways. Treatment with LQEQ-19 promotes the phosphorylation of key mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs), namely Akt and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) 1/2. The neuroprotective effect of this peptide is eliminated by inhibitors targeting the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) and MEK/ERK pathways, indicating that its mechanism of action involves the activation of these MAPK cascades.

  • Storage Guidelines

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
