  • Description
Kisspeptin-54 (human), also known as metastin, is a 54-amino-acid peptide encoded by the KiSS-1 gene. It was first isolated from human placenta and identified as the endogenous ligand of the G protein-coupled receptor GPR54 (KISS1R). Kisspeptin–GPR54 signaling is essential for pubertal development and reproductive function: mice lacking GPR54 and humans carrying GPR54-null mutations fail to mature sexually and exhibit low circulating gonadotropins and sex hormones (hypogonadotropic hypogonadism). Peripheral administration of kisspeptin-54 potently stimulates gonadotropin release and induces ovulation in rats, and it also stimulates LH release in humans, confirming its role as a key regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. Kisspeptin-54 is therefore a valuable tool for studying reproductive neuroendocrinology and the regulation of gonadotropin secretion.
  • Storage Guidelines

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
