Description
The HIV-1 tat Protein (49-57) peptide is a short, highly cationic sequence derived from the HIV-1 Tat protein. It consists of nine amino acids, featuring six arginine and two lysine residues, which confer a strong positive charge. This basic cluster is identified as the principal structural determinant responsible for the peptide's ability to adhere to and cross plasma membranes. The mechanism of cellular entry involves initial ionic interactions with anionic cell surface components, such as heparan sulfate proteoglycans, followed by internalization. The precise pathway of translocation remains a subject of scientific investigation, with evidence suggesting involvement of various endocytic processes. It has been successfully shown to deliver a large variety of cargoes, from small particles to proteins, peptides and nucleic acids.

About TFA salt
Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.
Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.
Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.
In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
