Description
The Gamma-bag cell peptide is a neuropeptide derived from the egg-laying hormone prohormone in the bag cell neurons of Aplysia californica. It is part of a group of peptides, including alpha and beta-bag cell peptides, that are located near the N-terminus of the prohormone. These peptides are packaged into distinct peptidergic vesicles and released upon neuronal stimulation.
Studies using microfluidic devices and mass spectrometry have characterized the release dynamics of Gamma-bag cell peptide. Its release can be elicited by chemical stimulations such as elevated potassium, which causes depolarization, or insulin, which triggers intracellular calcium release. The temporal pattern of release differs between stimuli, with insulin requiring a longer exposure time compared to potassium.

About TFA salt
Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.
Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.
Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.
In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
