  • Description

Endokinin C (EKC) is a human tachykinin peptide encoded by the TAC4 gene. It is generated from specific splice variants of the TAC4 transcript, primarily expressed in tissues such as the adrenal gland. This peptide possesses a distinctive tachykinin motif, FQGLL-NH2, which features a hydrophilic glutamine residue in the characteristic hydrophobic position and a C-terminal leucine amide, differing from the conserved FXGLM-NH2 sequence found in most mammalian tachykinins.

In pharmacological studies, Endokinin C exhibits very low binding potency at the three classical neurokinin receptors (NK1, NK2, and NK3). Its unique structural signature and weak interaction with known tachykinin receptors suggest it may act on a distinct, uncharacterized receptor system. The peptide's specific physiological role and mechanisms of action remain subjects for further scientific investigation.

  • Storage Guidelines

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
