    The polypeptide DSESSEEDRTKREEVD is a designed biomimetic sequence. It was constructed by connecting the collagen-binding domain "DSESSEEDR" from dentin matrix protein-1 (DMP-1) to the hydrophilic C-terminal sequence "TKREEVD" from amelogenin. Experimental analysis demonstrates that this synthetic polypeptide exhibits specific binding affinity to demineralized dentin collagen matrices. Furthermore, in vitro mineralization assays show that the polypeptide can sequester calcium and phosphate ions from solution and initiate the nucleation and growth of hydroxyapatite crystals. These properties indicate its functional role in mimicking key aspects of natural biomineralization processes.
