  • Description

Cerebellin-2 is a neuropeptide derived from the cerebellin-2 precursor protein (CBLN2), a member of the C1q/tumor necrosis factor superfamily of synaptic organizers. It is identified as a 16-amino acid peptide with the sequence SGSAKVAFSATRSTNH, and shorter forms of 15 and 14 amino acids have also been detected. These peptides are expressed in the central nervous system, with notably higher levels in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord compared to the ventral horn. The amino acid sequences of cerebellin-2 peptides are completely conserved between humans and mice.

Functionally, cerebellin-2 peptides are implicated in synaptic organization and neuronal signaling. They share structural similarities with other cerebellin family peptides, such as those from CBLN1 and CBLN4. Studies indicate that cerebellin-2 peptides may modulate neuronal activity, with specific forms influencing sensory processing pathways. The presence of these peptides in spinal cord regions associated with sensory input suggests a role in neural circuit regulation.

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
