  • Description

Anoplin is a novel antimicrobial peptide isolated from the venom of the solitary wasp Anoplius samariensis. It is a linear decapeptide with the amino acid sequence Gly-Leu-Leu-Lys-Arg-Ile-Lys-Thr-Leu-Leu-NH2. The peptide exhibits a high sequence homology to other amphipathic α-helical peptides, such as mastoparan-X and crabrolin, found in social wasp venoms.

Structural analyses, including circular dichroism spectroscopy and molecular modeling, indicate that anoplin can adopt an amphipathic α-helical conformation in appropriate environments, such as in the presence of membrane-mimetic agents like sodium dodecyl sulfate or trifluoroethanol. In this conformation, its hydrophobic and cationic residues segregate to opposite faces of the helix. This peptide is noted for being one of the smallest linear α-helical antimicrobial peptides identified in nature.

  • About TFA salt

Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a common counterion from the purification process using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The presence of TFA can affect the peptide's net weight, appearance, and solubility.

Impact on Net Weight: The TFA salt contributes to the total mass of the product. In most cases, the peptide content constitutes >80% of the total weight, with TFA accounting for the remainder.

Solubility: TFA salts generally enhance the solubility of peptides in aqueous solutions.

In Biological Assays: For most standard in vitro assays, the residual TFA levels do not cause interference. However, for highly sensitive cellular or biochemical studies, please be aware of its presence.
